From either Edinburgh or Glasgow the motorways merge onto the M9 heading for Stirling/Perth. At junction 10, take the A84 exit to A85/Stirling/Callander/Crianlarich.

At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A84

At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on A84.  Follow the signs for The Smiddy Farm shop and pass Blair Drummond Safari Park and you will see the green road sign, signposted Aberfoyle (A873), turn off to the left after the sign The Smiddy: Shop/Butchery/Café.

Soon after take a left onto the A873 and follow this road which will take you into the little village of Thornhill, drive through the village and turn sharp right towards Aberfoyle, Callander, and Port of Menteith.

Very quickly take the road on the right signposted Callander (A81) 6m.  This will take you onto the B822. Follow this road for 1.6 miles, pass the white sign on the right for Lilias Graham Trust and a little further on you will see the sign and entrance for Muir Estate on the right.

Drive through the gates, straight ahead and up the hill and you will see the Lodge and Bothy on your left.

From Inverness, follow the A9 to Perth (south).

From Perth take the A9 Stirling road and stay on that a good while.

You can take the turn off towards Dunblane and Doune, which are both lovely to visit if you have time. The simplest way is to stay on the A9 until junction 10, take the A84 exit to A85/Stirling/Callander/Crianlarich.

From Fort William take the A85 heading to Lochearnhead. Then take the A84 to Callander.

From Callander follow signs to Glasgow, which should make you turn right at the traffic lights, go over the bridge and take a left at the little painted roundabout.

Pass the Secondary school and leisure centre on your right and continue straight over the roundabout. Careful, it’s so small you don’t notice it. Continue straight and you will see the sign to Thornhill on the bend, turn off to the left onto the B822.  Follow this road, pass the little building on the left with a painted smiley face and a little further on you will see the signs for Muir Estate.

Go through the gate, drive straight ahead and up the road and you will see the Lodge and Bothy on your left.
