We are thrilled to bits with them. We have 10 red hinds, that’s females to you and me. I didn’t know either, being new to all this. Anyway, my husband Alick says they’ve been rutted. What is rutted? I asked the same question! Well, it means all the ladies have been serviced by a male, by a stag. Fingers crossed the hinds are in calf and we will have newborns in May this year. They’ve been with us about 2 weeks now and at first they were very nervous of us, as you’d expect but you will see from the picture how close we get to them now. It won’t be long until they are eating out of Alick’s hand. He’s so good with them. I call him the deer whisperer.
So, since I was able to get a good picture, I thought as it’s our first post in our journal that we could try something interactive, just for a bit of fun and also it lets us see if anyone out there is looking at us yet.
